Valentine’s Day, Soul, & Sweet Detours

I just came by to wish each of you a Happy Valentine’s Day filled with love that feels honest, unforced, and well-timed.

And since love deserves a soundtrack, I have the song for today:

🎶 “Carried Away” – Tyrone Davis

If you haven’t heard it, do yourself a favor hunt it down, pull it up, or call your favorite DJ and tell them to spin it immediately. This man was so gone over a woman that he literally drove past his own route thinking about her.

That’s not a crush. That’s ignition.

He said:
“…Thinking about the time you were so good to me… before I knew it, I was ten miles out of the way… 94, said the highway sign…”

Listen. That is love doing donuts in your common sense.

And let me tell you — I once played this song from New Orleans all the way past Atlanta on a road trip to DC. My sons were knocked out at first… emphasis on at first. By the time the trip was rolling, they were DONE with it. Yet today? Every lyric still lives rent-free in their heads. That’s how you know a song has soul — it leaves a mark, even in protest.

So today, whether you’re in love, remembering love, healing from love, or laughing at love — let the music carry you for a minute. Take the scenic route. Let your heart wander a few extra miles if it needs to.

And don’t forget —
My Songs of the Month are on the way in a couple weeks… so stay close, Y'all!

Happy Valentine’s Day, my people.
May your love be real, your peace be loud, and your playlist be undefeated.
♥️
