Still No Size 26, Still No Love
So, against my better judgment, I gave Dillard’s another shot. A whole year later, a fresh mindset, and maybe—just maybe—a better experience. Spoiler alert: Nope.
Walked in with an open mind, browsed a little, and of course, I already knew the drill. Finding a size 26? A challenge in itself. But I figured I’d at least ask, because, you know, things change. Stores expand their inventory, brands start being more inclusive… right?
Wrong.
Not only was the selection still lacking, but the energy? The same. That same half-hearted “Yeah, we don’t carry that.” No offer to check another location, no suggestion for alternatives, just vibes of “You’re out of luck, girl.”
It’s not even about the size at this point—it’s about the effort. A simple, “Let me see what I can do,” would have gone a long way. But nah, I guess that’s asking too much.
And that’s the thing—when a store makes you feel like an inconvenience instead of a valued customer, why keep giving them chances? Meanwhile, Nordstrom (and a few other spots that get it) will not only find my size but make sure I leave feeling like I belong.
Lesson re-learned: If they don’t make space for you, don’t shrink yourself to fit.
I had this convo With Sierra Earlier
Me: Girl… guess where I just wasted my time again?
Sierra: Oh no… don’t tell me—Dillard’s?
Me: Ding ding ding. One year later, still no size 26, still no effort, still no reason for me to ever set foot in there again.
Sierra: Lmaooo, why did you even go back? You know they ain’t about that customer service life.
Me: I was trying to be hopeful. Maybe they evolved, maybe they started carrying more inclusive sizes. But nope, same old, same old.
Sierra: Meanwhile, Nordstrom been treating you like royalty. That’s why they stay winning.
Me: Exactly! It’s the bare minimum to just act like you wanna help. Dillard’s acting like they doing me a favor just by existing.
Sierra: Chile… some places just don’t deserve your money.
Me: And they won’t be getting it. Lesson re-learned.
