A Day of Car Repairs and a Refreshing Swim in a Homemade Pool

Last Saturday brought an unexpected twist to a simple day up north. I joined my friend John in fixing up an old car during a rare sunny summer day. ☀️ Besides the vintage ride, John's got this private pool of his. Every time I'm over, he's always pushing me to take a dip. I usually hit him with the "it's too cold" excuse, but this time things took a different turn. John, being on top of things, checked the weather and decided to turn on the pool heating early. Now, mind you, this ain't your run-of-the-mill pool – it's a whopping 40 feet long. It takes a bit to warm up, but John had it all under control. As we wrapped up fixing the car, the weather went from sunny to windy, chilly, and almost raining. 🌧️ We had a fantastic lunch with his family, and John mentioned the pool heating was still on. He said, "Let's give it a shot." I hesitated for a moment, side-eyeing the rain, but he didn't insist, so I figured, "Why not?" With a bit of hesitation, we took the plunge. Surprisingly, the water was warm – a solid 26 degrees – and there was plenty of space to showcase our swimming styles. 🏊‍♀️ What blew my mind was finding out that John had built the entire pool from scratch over two years – digging, prepping the base, installing all the water heating and filtering stuff. Can you imagine committing to a project like that for two years? I jokingly called it "dull" in my text, because, let's face it, digging for over a year isn't the most thrilling thing. 😅 On the way back, someone asked me how my day was, and I hit them with, "Just swam butt-naked in a private pool." Their imagination ran wild, picturing some epic pool party with twenty blond Swedish girls. If only! 😂
