I'm fed up with people expecting others to read their minds and then making them accountable for their unspoken thoughts and feelings. It's not my job to play detective and figure out what someone meant when they fail to communicate clearly. If they truly cared about being understood, they'd speak up without leaving room for confusion.
Instead, they pass off the responsibility onto others and then blame them for not deciphering their hidden messages. It's unfair to expect others to do the work of expressing themselves clearly. Yet, when I respond based on what's presented to me, I'm labeled as the bad guy for not addressing their secret thoughts or feelings.
I refuse to engage in this fake level of communication. I expect people to communicate maturely and efficiently. Yes or no questions without an invitation to elaborate are a losing strategy. I answer them as they're asked because I can't read minds. People act like I'm crazy for not deciphering their hidden meanings, but it's not my fault they can't ask proper questions.
For too long, society has celebrated this kind of fakeness and immaturity, but I'm tired of it. I won't acknowledge anything unspoken or implied. I'll only respond to direct and efficient communication because we need to be the change we want to see.
