I’ve been trying to get in touch with Dr. Serena since yesterday, but sis was not answering her phone. So today, I hit her with a text because we cool like that.
She finally responded, basically saying:
"Sorry to inform you, but this month I’ll be touring at some HBCUs, and I won’t be back until about March 15th. If the pain gets any more severe, you might need to call someone else, but in the meantime, I’m here for you. Be sure to call me—I’ll be back in the office on the 16th, and you can reach me anytime while I’m on my commute home."
Well… there it was. I’m sitting here feeling like I need a whole gut check, and Dr. Serena is telling me to see someone else if it gets worse. But I don’t like that idea. These other doctors don’t know my body like she does, so I’ll just wait it out and hope this pain don’t take me out.
I’m not mad, though. Dr. Serena got obligations. When I first met her, she was literally speaking at a seminar, and she does these things every year. This just happens to be that time.
As for me? I’ve been benched for so long that even Malcolm had the audacity to ask me if I was dying. And of course, I brushed him off because he’s an idiot sometimes.
But for better or worse… I can’t wait ‘til she gets back.
