I woke up to an unexpected email from Dr. O’Ryan this morning. It wasn’t anything urgent—just a follow-up to check in on me and make sure I was doing okay after our last appointment. I wasn’t expecting it, but it meant a lot that he took the time to reach out.
He asked how I was feeling, if my pain had been manageable, and whether I had any concerns leading up to my myomectomy. He also reminded me that if I had any last-minute questions, I could reach out anytime.
Along with the check-in, he attached some important documentation to help me prepare:
π Pre-Surgery Guidelines – A breakdown of what to do in the weeks leading up to surgery, including diet recommendations, medication restrictions, and things to avoid.
π Hospital Admission Information – What to expect the day of surgery, including check-in times, fasting instructions, and post-op care details.
π Recovery Timeline – A realistic guide on how long I can expect to heal, when I can return to work, and what activities I’ll need to avoid.
π Pain Management Plan – A list of approved pain relievers and what symptoms to watch out for post-surgery.
π Physical Therapy & Mobility Tips – Exercises to help prevent stiffness and improve circulation after surgery.
He ended the email by saying, “I know this is a big step, but you’re doing the right thing for your health. Stay strong, and we’ll get you through this.”
It was a small thing, but it made a difference. It reminded me that I’m not going through this alone and that I have a medical team that actually cares about my well-being.
One step closer to getting through this. π
