All we have is Now!

The concept of living in the present seems straightforward, right? Yet, it's deceptively complicated. The truth is simple: all we have is now, the present moment. While it's important to plan for the future and learn from the past, expending energy on either is futile because reality exists only in the now.

Let me be brutally honest about what triggered this reflection. I just ate at Applebee's, which I know isn't great for me, and then I caught myself lamenting how, if I had kept up with my exercise, I'd be fit by now. Maybe that's true, but so what? All I have is now. I can accept that I'm not fit and decide to change that from this moment forward. Regretting my past choices does nothing for me right now. As I looked in the mirror, I dismissed the 'shoulds' and said, "Screw that, all you have is now." Yes, I know 'smoud' isn't a word, but who cares?

It's never too late to make a change in the present. Age, circumstances—none of it matters. I'll admit, I'm not always good at taking my own advice, but maybe this time will be different. Or perhaps someone reading this will find inspiration. I don't write these things for credit; I hope they help someone who's struggling.

Let's circle back to the idea of now. Everything is fine in this very moment. I often find myself worrying about future tasks or events, but 99% of that worry is pointless. So, if you're worrying, ask yourself: what's wrong with right now? For me, the only issue is that I overate at Applebee's.. Moving forward, I'll aim to eat healthier. But that's a minor problem in the grand scheme.

I'm not downplaying the real struggles people face. Life can be incredibly tough. But staying present, dealing with things one step at a time, is crucial. Right now, my cat is meowing at me, so I'll wrap this up here.
