Grateful in the Midst of a Cold World

Family, let me share a moment with you. It’s the middle of the night—around 4:00 a.m.—and I’m just getting off work, heading out into the quiet streets. A block from my job, I pass by a man curled up under a blanket, clearly trying to get some sleep while the rain still lingers and the air gets colder by the hour.

I didn’t have anything on me to help, and as a woman, I couldn’t just walk up to him in the dark like that—it’s not always safe. But seeing him there hit me hard. It reminded me of how close life can swing us between comfort and struggle.

Right now, I’m holding down two jobs. It’s not easy, but it’s steady. I have a home, a bed, a place to lay my head down, and that is nothing short of a blessing. Had it not been for God’s grace and timing, I could’ve been in that very same situation.

This world can be mad, cold, and unfair. But it also teaches you to appreciate what you have, to stop and thank God for the little things that keep you moving. Some folks don’t get that chance. So tonight, I’m choosing gratitude.

Stay safe, stay humble, and never forget to count your blessings. 💜
