Checklists and Character

Most good single men I meet aren’t carrying a long list. They want peace, respect, somebody solid to build with. Nothing fancy. Just real.

But a lot of us women, and I’m including myself in this, sometimes show up with a whole manifesto. Pages of requirements, conditions, expectations. Somewhere along the way we started believing the list would protect us.

Truth is, plenty of good sisters are out here. I know it because I’m one of them, and I see them every day. Women who pray, work, hold families together, keep their word.

But lawd… somehow we keep drawing the same kind of trouble.

So maybe the conversation ain’t just about what we demand. Maybe it’s about what patterns we keep letting through the door.

Because a list can look strong on paper.
But character is what actually holds a house up.
