Still Benched.
The discomfort hadn’t let up. If anything, it had settled in—like an uninvited guest who had kicked off their shoes and decided to stay a while. My abdomen still felt swollen, heavy, off in a way I couldn’t ignore.
So, I called Dr. Serena. Again.
She picked up fast, her expression landing somewhere between concern and I knew you’d be calling me back.
“Talk to me.”
I didn’t waste time. “It’s not getting better. I’m starting to feel… weird down there. Not pain, just pressure. Like something’s shifting.”
She hummed, already clicking through something on her end. “Any bleeding?”
“Yes, there’s leakage. And I feel like I’m bleeding, but it’s also in clumps. Not blood clots—I don’t think—but it’s hard to pee. What do I do?”
That got her full attention. Her expression sharpened, tone shifting from thoughtful to firm. “Okay. That tells me a few things. The leakage could mean your uterus is trying to shed something—whether it’s built-up tissue, mucus, or fluid. If it’s clumpy but not clotting, it could be a sign of hormonal imbalance or even irritation from inflammation. And difficulty urinating?” She paused. “That concerns me. It could mean swelling is putting pressure on your bladder, or something’s obstructing the flow.”
I swallowed. “So what does that mean for me right now?”
She didn’t hesitate. “It means I need to see you ASAP. No waiting it out. You could be dealing with severe inflammation, possible infection, or a cycle that’s struggling to regulate itself. And if you can’t fully empty your bladder, that’s another issue we need to address immediately.”
I exhaled, already knowing what she was going to say next.
“And before you ask,” she added with a smirk, “yes, that means you still need to rest. And drink plenty of fluids—cranberry juice if you have it, water, no caffeine. But bottom line? Get here. Now.”
I sighed. “Yeah, yeah. No roughhousing.”
Her look was pointed. “And no waiting just because you don’t want to deal with it. This isn’t the time to power through discomfort.”
She wasn’t wrong. Whatever was happening, we’d get to the bottom of it soon.
For now?
Still benched.
