Fixing a broken justice system

True justice ain’t about punishing people for the sake of it; it’s about making sure the punishment fits the crime and that folks are treated fairly. Louisiana’s prison overcrowding is a prime example—people are locked up for minor offenses while those committing worse crimes often get off easy. We need proportional justice, where the punishment makes sense, and no one gets over-punished for small mistakes. We also need rehabilitative justice—it's not enough to just lock people away. We need to provide opportunities for growth, education, and change, instead of leaving folks to rot without a chance to rebuild. The system needs to shift from punishment to real reform that focuses on redemption, not just retribution. It’s time for a justice system that sees people for who they truly are and gives everyone a fair shot.
