Honorary vs Earned Titles.

Honorary titles are often rooted in public perception, whereas earned titles are grounded in academic achievement.

In recent times, the excessive granting of honorary titles has led to frustration, as many feel these titles dilute the value of academic credentials. Ironically, some of the same individuals who criticize honorary titles also publicly embrace self-proclaimed figures like Dr. Sebi, who, despite having no formal PhD, is revered for his work. Dr. Sebi was an herbalist, which traditionally aligns more with the role of a witch doctor than a scholar.

The distinction lies in the nature of credibility: one is academically verified, while the other is self-proclaimed. Yet, because the latter resonates deeply with the community, it is often accepted as legitimate without critical examination, overshadowing the lack of formal validation.
