SNOW DAY IN NEW ORLEANS! ☃️

I knew my city wouldn’t disappoint when it came to foolery and shenanigans—and baby, we are in rare form today. Have y’all seen snow yet this season? Because it is legit snowing in New Orleans! Not just a little flurry, not just some sleet—real snow, and as of now, we’re looking at a whole foot of it in some places.

I went out for a walk early this morning when it was just starting, and everything was so still and quiet, like the whole city was holding its breath. But as the day went on? The snow just kept coming. I mean, we are no strangers to water in New Orleans, but this?! This is a different beast.

And because this is New Orleans, of course, somebody had to start acting up—one of my neighbors is out here blasting bounce music like we’re at a block party! Look, I love my city, but can we not just for once lean into the mood? It looks like a damn Disney movie outside, and y’all out here like it’s Mardi Gras! Throw on some smooth jazz or something, let’s at least pretend we got a little class while we enjoy this rare moment.

But on a serious note, this kind of weather isn’t fun for everybody. I passed a homeless couple earlier, and they were struggling out in this mess. I asked if they were okay—clearly, they weren’t—and it hit me how brutal this is for people without shelter. When I got home, I threw together whatever I could—socks, snacks, sweatshirts, t-shirts, a down vest, and some water—but what I really wish I had were blankets. This kind of cold is no joke.

So while we’re out here marveling at this rare and beautiful moment, let’s not forget to look out for each other. Stay warm, stay safe, and if you can help someone, do it.
